As a Basic Engineer, you are the key to successful engine room installations and piping systems aboard various types of ships. You work on projects ranging from luxury yachts to commercial cargo ships, where you translate functional diagrams into 3D models and detailed construction drawings. You ensure that each design is feasible, safe, and efficient, contributing to practical solutions on board.
A typical day as a Basic Engineer starts with translating complex P&IDs into 3D pipe routing using Cadmatic. You model equipment and keep the 3D model up-to-date. Additionally, you prepare manufacturing drawings, parts lists, and construction drawings, and work out route networks, including cable trays as directed by electricians. You monitor the quality and feasibility of technical plans and ensure that schedules are met. Collaborating with the Lead Engineer and other specialists is an important part of your work.
